I get razzed a lot for being a detail-oriented person, always by friends; and often enough, amusingly enough, by the friends who hire me to be detail-oriented (editing, prop design, you get the picture). I can’t help myself; it’s just that there’s so much to experience in the tiny, unobtrusive stuff.
Good example: I love the seasons, all of them, because each offers both big and infinitesimally small imprints, changes, shifts, gifts, little breaths of the universe that say I was here. It’s all fascinating to me. I want to see it, get into the same space with it. That’s me in the corner, that’s me kneeling in the dirt with my nose up against an inchworm on a strawberry saying coooool.
So.
This is a semi-comprehensive chronicle of my favorite details, late spring into summer. There’s a lot of food, but you expected that.
What’s on your warm-weather list?
Fans. Lemonade. Frozen juice bars. Iced coffee. Fresh tomatoes from the vine.
Trina–You hit the nail on the head π Thanks for the smile!
As a principal “razzer”, and beneficiary of your anal retentive largesse on multiple occasions, let me say that I LOVE your oftimes myopic view, as it invariably leads to a worlds of undiscovered delight. You would never step on a Lilliputian when the rest of us stomp. In theatre, where the audience experience is a mosaic made of hundred of shards of detail glued together with common intent, your singular focus is invaluable. And, though I will tease you about waxing rhapsodic about a salad made of groundcover and neighbor pilfered weeds, I would eat whatever, wherever you pointed. . .such is my trust in your discernment.
As to your question. . .Beet and onion salad, Jersey tomato (eaten like an apple with just salt and pepper), Boardwalk French Fries, the first gulp of an ice cold, frosted mug beer on a 100 degree day, soft shell crabs and the scent of BBQ in the air.
T–You, sir, a principal razzer? Perish the thought! π We’re a good team. And Anal Retentive Largesse would be the good name for a music group.
LOVE the summer vignettes you offer. See you soon π
